Project Controls Suport - Floor Manager
LOCATIONS: Chicago, IL
PURPOSE:
BCF Solutions, Inc. Triad Division is seeking a candidate to support the Office of Project Management Department of the Facilities Management & Services Division (FMS-OPM) at Argonne National Laboratory (ANL). They have implemented a Department of Energy (DOE) certified Earned Value Management System (EVMS). An advanced Project Controls Specialist with specific experience as a Data Center Floor Manager is needed to augment the FMS-OPM work force on a midsize project.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Coordination of equipment delivery schedule between individual Vendors and ALCF-2 Technical Representative and appropriate ALCF staff.
Coordinate deliveries with Argonne Receiving Office, including gate pass request and dock location.
Coordinate the assessment and approvals of PCRs for the Scope, Schedule, Cost, Risk and PA Project Control’s Areas.
Ensure Vendor required materials for Bldg 240 Data Center installation are identified and available prior to equipment deliveries.
Enforce Data Center safety protocols as outlined in the “Rules of the Core” document.
Coordinate Vendor and ALCF-2 Technical Representative and appropriate ALCF staff installation requirements and schedule with Data Center Management and Building Maintenance Contractor, Colliers.
Document schedule of deliveries and provide weekly snapshot updates to ALCF-2 Program Manager.
Provide input pertaining to the project schedules, risks, resources, and project performance.
Development, review, and update of supporting project documentation.
Interface with the project’s technical staff, financial staff, project managers, and the functional managers on aspects of scheduling, cost estimating, risk, and earned value analysis.
Facilitate and organize meetings, agendas, and notes.
Participate in monitoring the efforts of subcontractors.
Participate in meetings involving schedule maintenances and revisions of subcontractors.
Assist project staff in performing variance analysis, baseline changes, and corrective actions as they pertain to delivery.
Gather, validate, and analyze project monthly performance data.
Identify problems, draw valid conclusions, and develop effective solutions to project related issues.
Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors degree in mechanical, electrical, or construction engineering or above required. Background or experience as a Floor Manager/Construction Engineer, working in settings with mechanical and electrical system installations in a data center, hospital, research laboratory, and high technology manufacturing setting is preferred. Experience with projects to install computing systems including data center, office telecommunications, electrical systems and controls, laboratory piping and other mechanical systems is ideal.
PREREQUISITES:
Must possess a DOE clearance.
ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES:
Strong MS Office skills, particularly Excel, MS Project, and PowerPoint, experience in the use of Candidate must possess exceptionally strong analytical skills.
Must be a self starter, detail oriented, able to support multiple projects, possesses excellent communication skills, works well with a team, interacts with multiple levels and functions within the Program Office, being able to manage customer and contractor relationships.
Candidates must have demonstrated ability to manage multiple simultaneous tasks.
